Monterey County is home to 415,000 residents (2010) and covers 2,127,359 acres of which 304,035 belong to Los Padres National Forest and 164,503 to the Ventana Wilderness. Many residents began as tourists. Some flying in for a round of world class golf at Pebble Beach; others cruising down Highway One, marveling at the majestic Pacific Ocean and cliff hanging vantage points, including the famous Bixby Bridge. This stretch of land has become the muse for many painters, authors and photographers including Ansel Adams and John Steinbeck.

Monterey County is a world-renowned wine region. The cool fog and fresh air that keeps the areas temperature a consistent 60-72 degrees, is also ideal for the 40,000 acres of grapes. Take a tour through Monterey Wine Country and sample the variety of tastes available! It seems no one eats at home – there are so many restaurants to experience. With the farms of Salinas Valley nearby, the menus offer plentiful fresh produce. Restaurants for every mood, taste and pocketbook are available throughout the area.
