The Carmel Highlands and Yankee Point area is a scenic and rugged stretch of California coastline located just south of Point Lobos and approximately 4 miles south of Carmel-by-the Sea.
Carmel Highlands was laid out in 1916 by developers of Carmel-by-the Sea, Frank Powers and Franklin Devendorf. One of their early developments was the historic Highlands Inn.
The scenic beauty has long attracted homeowners, artists and writers including long time residents Ansel Adams and the world reknown marine painter William Ritchel.
