The average number of Carmel single family home sales in the Summer months (July, August, September) over the last 10 years is 56.  How many summer home sales did we have this year?

The simple answer is that we’ve had 36 sales in the summer months this year, which is clearly lower than the average.  Interestingly, I’ve found that as I’ve polled friends and family on this one over the last few days, most people tended to guess lower.  What did you guess?  Was it higher or lower than the actual number?  Why do you think that was?  Feel free to comment on your guess and your perception of the market these days.  And, just in case you want to know which homes sold in this time period, here’s a link to a report showing all of them (Carmel Summer Sales Report 2008).  If you’re curious, like me, how October is shaping up considering the crazy financial mess our country is in, we’ve had 12 sales close as of October 21, which actually indicates a pick-up in activity.  Interesting times indeed…
